How things are

Well, to update a little. Payton did make it home on wednesday and she is doing great. Poor Karie and Stephen are having the joy of trying to make their new daughter realize to be awake by day and a sleep by night, but Payton so far hasn't caught on. My dad has fallen in love with Payton. He makes excuses just to travel to town to see her. He is really jealous if someone had been holding her over a couple of minutes, before he ask "How come you get to hold her all the time." He has fallen very hard for that grand baby of his. Payton has taken my sisters looks in every way. So when I went to the local resturant Mary's (Idlewild Post) at the forestry gate, Mary begged to see pictures of Tommy's new granddaughter. I showed her the pictures and she said instantly that Payton looks like Tommy. Let's just say when I related the message to dad, he walked out of the room with a skip in his walk and a smile on his face. I've honestly never ever seen him like this before and it's really weird for me to act like it's normal. Little Elizabeth was very happy to spend the weekend with them and stay with her "tiny fingered" sister. Her knew "baby doll" does everything and Elizabeth can finally play mommy.

I've been sick this weekend and it's still continualing today. It's a lovely summer head cold. I've not been able to see Payton or hardly anyone this weekend. But I did teach class sunday in the younger kids class. I taught last sunday the story of David being chosen out of his brothers to be the next king. I went and did up a lot of easter eggs with glitter and ribbons and confeddy, but I left one plain. I hoped by the lesson they would understand the God was not looking at the outward appearance of the brothers but at what is in side that really matters. There was one plain egg that luckly no one chose that had a candy bar in it. Well to go on with the story, Starla did not put a sticker up on their charts for wednesday, so I asked Watt if he was here on wednesday he answered, "yeah we had chocolate." I reminded him that was sunday. It was rather funny that he just knew one day there was chocolate. Star reported back to me, that Watt told her that class was about one egg had chocolate and no others did. He somewhat got the point, but couldn't get pass the chocolate. Sunday I brought in a track like thing that spins marbles down it. I had the track built to where it ended in a cut out shoe box that was to be Goliates head. They had a blast putting the "stone" marbles down the track and hitting "goliate" in the head with the "stones."

Well, today I took my big step. I submitted an application to IUS for the english degree program. Next step (will be this even) is to travel to Ivy Tech and have my transcript transferred to IUS. Then I got to apply for Fafsa and then meet with someone to see what I need to take. It's a long process I'm not looking to forward to doing. I've never taken out a college loan before, so I have no clue what I'm doing and I don't want to be taken. So many steps and only two months to do it in.

Going Home

Here's the pictures I promised

Elizabeth holding Payton for the very first time. Already acting the part of big sister.

This is what happens each time I get to hold her. She falls asleep. But I did get to enjoy watching her laugh while lost in her dreams. It was adorable. These two were of last night. ^v

Some of these are pictures of pictures so that's the reason for the fuzziness.
Proud parents.

This is the very first time Karie got to feed her on friday. 7/4/08

Very first time she was dressed. And the outfit says "I love my mommy"

Monday update

Since I don't have internet at home, it makes it a little hard to keep things up to date.

Payton is still in Norton's. She looks really good now. She's gained 3 ozs. Karie has got to bottle feed her a lot now to the point they are taking Payton off her IV's. The test results should be coming in today to see if Payton has an infection or not. They think it'll be negitive because of the med's were started before they took the test, but the doctors are still keeping her under monitoring. Karie is very unwilling to let anyone else take her. When we are up there visiting, poor Stephen is always the one in the waiting room, because Karie won't leave Payton's side unless she has to. Payton has fallen in love with her pacifier. She looks so much like Karie, I still can't get over it. She is doing a whole lot better and so is Karie. I'll post more pictures tomorrow. Thanks for the continual prayers.

Payton Kendall Burke

Finally got the correct spelling of her name. Here goes the story.

At 7 am on 7/1 my sister was induced. She went for 13 hours before the drugs were added to ease her pain some. All through out that time the baby's heart rate kept dropping. So the nurses would keep coming in and moving her and Payton's heart rate would go up again.

video
The video is right after Karie got her epidural shot. She loved it while it worked. She kept poking her legs and asking if she was really touching them. When the contractions became rather intense for her the nurses found Karie was ready to push. So she did on 7/2 at 6:30 and when Payton's head came out they discovered the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck 3 times. They got out a very pale looking girl at 7:25 am. She wouldn't breathe or react no matter how many times the doctor spanked her. Then she let out a little sigh/giggle sound. So they quickly got the oxygen hooked up and had to keep draining her lungs.

Then around noon it was decided from Payton's condition to transport her to Louisville at the Norton Surburan Hospital. While they were waiting on the EMS to come Payton started improving. Her color was coming to her and she was reacting when someone would touch her, but her breathing was still hard and fluid kept coming. She arrived at Louisville before 4:30 pm. They've ran scans and testing on her, but she's improved enough that they took her off of oxygen and the fluid draining tube. She is still under a heat lamp bed thing and is hooked up to a heart monitor and of course an IV. The last report I heard was at 8ish last night. Payton was crying and wingling a lot in her bed so they had to strap her down to make sure the heat stays on her. This is a picture of a picture so you really can't see the pale color of her hands to well, but her color is improving as well as her health. Payton will have to stay at Norton's for the minumin seven days so they can monitor her. The test that are being run will come back in two more days but they won't be sure if the results are because of the medicine or if she is really better, so that's why they are keeping her. Her doctor has nicknamed her the "miracle baby" because so far she is the only healthy baby he's taken that has had the same birth as her that is surviving.

This is a picture of Karie when she was little (like 3 to 6 months old - I forgot to look at the date). I like to compare and boy does Payton look like her mama. I have one picture of Karie when she was 9 day's old and Karie just had the birth of her twin. Karie is getting released this morning and her and Stephen are going straight to Louisville. There is a Ronald McDonald house that they are going to stay in for the seven days. Karie did get to hold her for a minute right before they took her away. Karie is handling it okay at the moment (last night) but I'm sure it's going to hit her hard today while she is there. Thank you everyone for the many calls and prayers that are going on on their behalfs. The Lord is listening and is making us all dependent on Him and look towards Him because we can not do this on our own.

Note: I still haven't seen her yet, but I'm going today after work. I'm on the list at the hospital so I'll be allowed to go and see her. No camera's are allowed because of all the other babies and privacy concerns and such. So it could be awhile before I get any new ones.

Update on Payton

So much has already happen. When Payton was born she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck 3 times. She is not doing well at all. She is being transported to Nortons Suburn Hospital right now. She is breathing hard and they have to drain fluids from her mouth. My sister is being forced to stay at Corydon. She is also not handling it that well. We need prayers right now. Thank You.

Baby Update

Payton Kindle Burke was born this morning at 7:25 am. She had a little bit of breathing problems but everything is going good now. Karie was in labor from right around 7 am yesterday to delivery at 7:25 am this morning - so she's a bit tired. I have not seen Payton yet, because I left this morning just 10 mins. before the delivery to head to work. (My boss was going on a run so I had to come in.) The doctor and nurses were still doing the check up so I don't have weight or length or and cute tibbit to add. I have no pictures right now, because I wasn't there - but I do already have some video of Karie right after the epidural that was pretty funny, but I haven't transfered it to computer yet. Look for pictures and video tomorrow. Thanks be to the Lord.
